Harmless banter between X owner and Meta CEO is fast turning into a full blown war of words now. Musk had famously said, “Zuck is a cuck”. He has now said, “Zuck is a chicken”. This new characterization of Zuckerberg by Musk is in response to Meta CEO’s unilateral calling off of cage fight between him and Musk. Although Zuck’s approach is more nuanced but he never misses an opportunity of taking potshots at Musk. Yesterday Zuckerburg called off the said cage fight through a elaborate post on Threads full of sly remarks about Musk. Zuckerberg wrote, “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.” This post quite naturally angered Musk who through his post on X insinuated that Zuckerberg has chickened out.

Now called-off cage fight had been hogging the limelight for quite some time now. Talk of cage fight between Musk and Zuck was initially regarded as nothing more than fun banter but with the passage of time some people started believing that the cage fight was in fact on. The occasional indirect interaction between Musk and Zuckerberg was primarily responsible for this belief gaining credence. First the venue for the cage fight was fixed at Las Vegas and later on it was changed to Colosseum in Italy. Images of both Musk and Zuckerberg training went viral adding fuel to the belief that the cage fight was on.

Today finally Zuckerberg put an end to all speculations about him and Musk indulging in a cage fight but this calling off was not sans usual fireworks. First Zuck accused Musk of not being serious about the cage fight and held Musk’s unseriousness as the reason for him calling off the cage fight. Musk responded through a post on X dismissing Zuck as a chicken virtually insinuating that Musk has chickened out. He suggested that chickening out of Zuck was the real reason for cage fight between him and Musk not becoming a reality. Despite the huge age difference between both these guys they seem to be two sides of the same coin. It is highly unrealistic to expect that they will now stop pulling each other’s legs.
