‘2025 is looking good’, says Elon Musk on Justin Trudeau’s resignation. Internet reacts
Trudeau’s announcement of resignation on Monday follows weeks of scrutiny from his fellow Liberal Party members, who were demanding his resignation, and a drop in his popularity among Canadians.
To the news of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announcement of resignation on Monday (6th January 2025), billionaire tech magnate Elon Musk reacted saying the year is “looking good”. This resignation comes just days before Donald Trump’s inauguration on 20th January 2025. Trudeau was compelled to resign following weeks of scrutiny from his fellow Liberal Party members, who were demanding his resignation, and due to a sharp decline in his popularity among Canadians.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO made the remark, “2025 is looking good,” not exactly celebrating the resignation of Trudeau. Remark was linked to the post it was attached to. This particular post listed some happenings that occurred at the fag end of last year or right at the start of the new year. One noticeable thing about the said post is that the tone seems laden with male chauvinism. Musk may have failed to notice the inherent male chauvinism in the post inadvertently or maybe his mindset is also male chauvinistic. “Trump won. Trudeau resigned. Keir Starmer got exposed. Nayib Bukele cut crime by 95% in El Salvador. Javier Milei created the first surplus since 2008 in Argentina. Masculinity is back. Great men are ascendant. And just in time. We’re going to need them,” the post read.
Internet reacts to Musk’s response
Musk’s post has garnered thousands of comments with people saying Trudeau’s resignation has made them happy. “The future is bright,” commented a user on Musk’s post. A second commented, “Can’t wait! Every year brings new opportunities. Let’s make the most of it!” “Great to start the year. Let’s take our country back to the values that made it great, safe, and strong. Then we can help other countries, like Britain, do likewise.” Said a user. “In 14 days, it’s about to get a whole lot better!” said another, referring ostensibly to Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
Trudeau’s resignation
On Monday (6th January 2025) Justin Trudeau made the announcement that he is stepping down as Canada’s Prime Minister and Liberal Party leader. “This country deserves a real choice in the next election, and it has become clear to me that if I’m having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election,” said he during a press conference.
Trudeau had been in power for almost a decade after his sweeping victory in 2015, followed by wins in 2019 and 2021. Responding to Justin Trudeau’s resignation, US president elect Donald Trump has renewed his offer to merge Canada with the USA, making it the 51st state.
